Manang Marshyangdi Club have lifted the title of the fifth Chief Minister Far-Western Khaptad Gold Cup 2078 with a 3-1 win over Friends Club in a match held in Dhangadhi today.
Jamoul Anthony Francois missed a wonderful opportunity to put Friends Club in the lead in the 19th minute as he failed to convert his penalty. Bishal Sunar, Manang goalkeeper saved his spot-kick.
And just three minutes later, Dinesh Rajbanshi gave Manang the lead from a free-kick. Jamoul, who missed the earlier penalty equalised for Friends Club in the 51st minute of the match. But it was Manang who found their rhythm and added two goals
Afeez Olawale put them into the lead in the 72nd minute and Moussa Abagana rounded off the victory with a goal in the dying moments of the match. Both teams were down to ten men after Manang's Rupesh KC and Friends' Shyam Babu Kyapchhki were sent off in the 86th minute.
Manang Marshyangdi Club received twenty-one lakh rupees along with the title while Friends Club received ten lakh rupees.
Coming to individual awards, Manang's Shishir Lekhi was named the player of the tournament and received one lakh rupees. Manang's Moussa Abagana, Friends' Suraj BK, Manang's Bishal Sunar and Manang's Rajendra Tamang were named the best midfielder, best defender, best goalkeeper and best coach in the tournament respectively. They all received 25,000 rupees each.
